About The Classifieds: Our Staff, Columnists, and Contributors
The Classified Wednesday and Sunday editorial section, which quietly made its debut on May 14, 2008, was originally conceptualized as a section that would provide jobseeking advice once a week, on Wednesdays. Due to the interest of readers and good feedback about the section, its appearances were expanded to include two pages every Sunday. It now can be found in section BB on Wednesdays and in sections C and D on Sundays.
The Classifieds, as they are collectively known (and the term distinguishes it from its sister publication, the highly popular Classified section of the Manila Bulletin) now offers quality editorial content for jobseekers and employees alike. Popular with our readers are the columns of our columnists (please see below); the Classified Reader column, where reader contributions on topics that other readers have suggested are published; the Wide World of Work column, which features work and workplace-related articles from all over the globe; and the Classified Answers column, in which experts from various industries in the Philippines address the concerns of workers who have sent their questions in via the section’s mobile line and the email address mbclassifiedwed AT gmail DOT com.
Moving from strength to strength, the section’s first reader survey was held from October to December 2009, drawing responses that allowed the staff to shape its newest columns and to plot out its editorial content to cater The first Classifieds Job Fair last March 23 and 24 at the Glorietta Activity Center, drew a crowd of thousands who came to peruse the job offerings and to listen to talks from industry experts and the Classifieds columnists. Plans are underway for the second Classifieds Job Fair in 2011.
